In January of this year, AltynEx Company JSC's mine began implementing its emergency response drill schedule. The first drill involved emergency response services—Ort Sondirushi KZ LLC and the non-governmental fire department, Servis Prom KZ LLC. In accordance with the emergency response plan, the drill was conducted at a fuel depot filling station, where there is a high risk of fire.
According to the scenario, a fuel depot operator telephoned the mine dispatcher about a vehicle fire while refueling at a fuel pump. Rescue and fire units quickly arrived at the scene and began extinguishing the fire. To prevent the fire from spreading from the fuel dispenser to the fuel tanks, the vehicle was towed away from the fuel pump.
According to the Occupational Health and Safety Department, the training's goals and objectives were achieved. The event helped practice joint emergency response actions, reinforcing the knowledge of AltynEx Company employees and contractors on emergency procedures.
